Meet Our Pastor
Rev. Ji-Tae Park
I was born into a Christian family in South Korea. I grew up in the Korean Methodist Church. Through the spiritual moment when I felt strongly God’s presence, I convinced God’s call to be a pastor to preach the good news, help people to be Christian, and transform our world through the church.
I entered the Methodist Theological Seminary in Korea and I became interested in minorities as a call to be Christian in Korean society. Jesus said that to help the lowest brother among your brothers is equal to helping me. “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me” (Matthew 25: 40). There are still many people who are in need: the abused, homeless, migrant workers and people in poverty. My passion is loving God and serving the community and caring for one another because we are connected in one body, Jesus Christ.
I have met people in various areas, and it has led me to open my eyes. I am still developing pastoral skills in my call to serve the church that makes disciples of Jesus Christ and transforms the world. I believe the church is hope because I have experienced God’s grace working through the church.
I studied Christian liturgy at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. During my time at Garrett, I have continued to open my mind and extend my theology to the diversity of faith and theology
I believe God has called me to serve a faith community where people grow in their understanding of God and their relationship with God. I have a passion for helping us all grow in our faith by connecting each other and with Jesus Christ through worship, outreach, studies, and fellowship.
My wife, Hyejung Hwang, is a pastor of UMC. We have 2 children; my daughter is 14 years old and my son is 8 years old. We have one dog, Nory, and one cat, cookie. We love to do camping with my family and friends and I like to ride a bike during my free time. Also, I like to cook and share it!
